[SOLVED] spot's MGADiag report (and grovelling plea for HALP!!)

Question re Microsoft Office 2007.... It looks like I have my standard edition installation disc for Office 97 from back in 2004 when it was installed on a different machine. If I uninstall Office 2007, can I use this to reinstall Office 97? Will it run with Windows 7?

I'd like to avoid messing with Office 2007 until we've eliminated all other possible issues because I use Excel & Word from that extensively for my business. But if changing to Office 97 is an option, at least I know I'm working with a net, so to speak.

Update - The computer was left off tonight, and within a few minutes after turning it back on I got the error again. Let me know what's next. And GOOD MORNING to you! :)

Yes Office 97 should work with Windows 7 but that is very old software so you may have problems opening up the new format.

Please do the following.

FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
2. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
3. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
4. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

13. Once the fixes are complete you will be prompted to restart your machine. Answer Yes.

Problems encountered..... replying from my laptop. Download would not offer an "extract" option, but wanted to be extracted via WinZip which I did. I located Repair_Windows.exe in the extracted files, ran Reboot to Safe Mode, but the window that popped was a "What is Safe Mode" window. No Repair tab or Open Repairs button. Could not locate anything that looked like another .exe .... there were a ton of .txt items, though. Have left the desktop at this point pending your instructions. I can take pics with my phone & upload them if you need to see what's going on.

I'm going to shut down the desktop to get it out of safe mode and wait for your instructions. Will ck back w/you this evening when I get up. If I need to, I can uninstall WinZip to help the program run properly... let me know :)

 went back to the desktop, to the Repair_Windows.exe & tried Run As Administrator and it opened the proper window with the Repair tab! Running that now.... will keep you posted!

Start Repairs has run and the unit has been restarted.... will leave it on and let you know if the error comes back when I get up. Sorry for the confusion... I'm enough of a ninny that Safe Mode freaks me out a little, but I think I got the task done LOL :)
