[SOLVED] Unable to download Windows updates KB4054518 and KB4534310 error 8024200D /Win 7*64

Remove Update Manually
  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt.
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
    wusa /uninstall /KB:4012215
  4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

KB4539601 was installed successfully. The other 2 updates have failed with 800F0902. However, restarting is taking hell lot of time.

Please do not install any update until I tell you.

FRST Registry Search
  1. Click the Start button and choose Control Panel.
  2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
  3. Select the Programs group.
  4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Server Manager dialog.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps. You can minimize it if you wish but keep it open.
  5. Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  6. Copy and paste KB4012215 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
  7. When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'SearchReg.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also. Close Notepad and attach the file 'SearchReg.txt' to your next reply.
  8. You may close any remaining open windows now.

In message #73 you mentioned 2 earlier updates than KB5439601.
Are these 2 still listed ? If so, uninstall KB4539601, reboot the machine and try to install the update KB4054518 first.
If installed successful install KB4534310 next and finally KB4539601.

If an installation fails do not install any other update but attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

These 2 (KB4054518 KB4534310) failed updates are still there in View Update history. They are not there in the Check for updates screen.
Should I uninstall KB4539601?

They are not there in the Check for updates screen.
Should I uninstall KB4539601?
No. If there are no important updates available we are done.

But what about the failure of these 2 (KB4054518 KB4534310) updates with 800F0902

If the failures are listed in the Windows Update history you can ignore that.

So does that mean that I do not need to install KB4054518 KB4534310. Could you please elaborate as the problem was of these two updates which failed due to 8024200D and now they have failed with 800F0902. If at all I do not need these 2 updates then what we were doing all the time.

So does that mean that I do not need to install KB4054518 KB4534310.
Indeed. These two updates are older than KB4539601. First we tried to fix some corruptions but as they were all related to KB4012215 it is quicker to remove it completely. My next step would have been to install KB4054518 and KB4534310. Because you already installed KB4539601 the other 2 are not needed.

Yes, but KB4539601 was an optional update and the other 2 were important updates. Why the optional is important than the important?

Also today I received a notification on my pc saying "Starting on January 15, 2020, a full-screen notification will appear that describes the risk of continuing to use Windows 7 Service Pack 1 after it reaches end of support on January 14, 2020. The notification will remain on the screen until you interact with it." As far as I know this notification is related to KB4534310. So when I do not have KB4534310 installed why did I received the notification.

One more thing I have to reset WMP today. I read that KB4012215 is also related to WMP, the stuff that we uninstalled today.

Lets re-install KB4012215 first.

Install Update with DISM
  1. Download the update MSU here: http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._a777b8c251dcd8378ecdafa81aefbe7f9009c72b.msu
  2. Copy the MSU file to a convenient location (such as C:\temp).
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  5. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd C:\temp

replace C:\temp with your path if different

    expand windows6.1-kb4012215-x64_a777b8c251dcd8378ecdafa81aefbe7f9009c72b.msu -f:* C:\temp

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\windows6.1-kb4012215-x64.cab

  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
  7. Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.

If you receive any other message:
  8. Right-click on the Command Prompt window and click Select All, this will invert all of the colors by selecting the text, now press enter. All of this text is now copied.
  9. Paste (Ctrl+V) it into your next post.
  10. Zip and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Please report the result.

I did a save link as http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._a777b8c251dcd8378ecdafa81aefbe7f9009c72b.msu and downloaded it. Although as in my previous correspondences(see#8), got a red exclamation mark but neglected it by choosing Keep. I made a new temp folder in C: and moved the downloaded file(Microsoft Update Standalone Package) to it. Does moving or copying makes a difference? Should I go ahead and complete the remaining part of the process.

You can either move or copy the .msu file itself. It doesn't matter. Do not make a shortcut.

In expanding files in command prompt there were 4 files. After running DISM command it said processing 1 of 1. The operation completed successfully. I did an exit after that. Is it ok.

Can I delete all the files in temp folder now. Also I do not see any option to Uninstall SFC Fix and FRST64 in programs and features. How do I uninstall these?

Great. Is WMP working normally again ?

Also I do not see any option to Uninstall SFC Fix and FRST64 in programs and features. How do I uninstall these?
You can delete SFCFix.exe manually.
Rename the file FRST64.exe to uninstall.exe and run it. This will remove all files and folders created by FRST and the tool itself.
Reboot the machine to complete.
