[SOLVED] Very high DPC and ISR by storport.sys and classpnp.sys. FIX: I moved the HDD from Sata3 port to Sata2 port.

Well in this case there is noting can be done I`m afraid.

If you have licenses for old Windows OS I can provide you with ISO file.

You can report your issues with NVIDIA driver here and hope NVIDIA will come up with fix soon.

Your hardware its perfectly well the only problem are NVIDIA drivers and Windows 10

I`m sorry but there it`s noting I could suggest resolving this at the moment we need the dark forces of Microsoft and Nvidia to sort this out :)

I installed the new update of Windows 10 but nothing to do, the problem is still here...
I hope the next Nvidia driver will fix it.

Hi all

Just checking in again. You've been working hard! Sorry that things have been stubbornly refusing to play sound cleanly.

If you want to try the "hair of the dog that bit you" tactic (old saying from an old man) ... a few folks are having a little better luck with the 364.72 Nvidia drivers ... sadly, for some folks things don't get better (for a few, they get worse). But if you're feeling lucky.....

Who knows?

Sorry that the latest from Nvidia didn't help yet.

I'm taking a look at a new tool for analyzing "Media Experience" on Windows computers. It is a tool open to Windows users at no cost, but it does look like there is going to be a bit of a learning curve. The tool is called the "Media eXperience Analyzer", and it is available from the Microsoft Download Center. I'm still looking at one of the first "tutorials" ... so it will be a while before I'm up to speed with using the tool. If it sparks your curiousity, the tool does come with a guide (in pdf format ... the Adobe Reader format) and you can "read along". Here's a link to that tool's download page at Microsoft --- Download Media eXperience Analyzer from Official Microsoft Download Center

And if you type "Microsoft Media eXperience Analyzer" into your favorite search engine, you'll notice lots of links to tutorials from the Microsoft techs (and a few others).... The "DeFragTools" videos cover the MXA (the acronym for Media eXperience Analyzer) from start to finish - but they can be challenging to follow (lots of tech jargon zipping by in the blink of an eye) ... But for those who love learning ... lots to learn, it appears, from this tool.

Hi again

Just to try a few more last-ditch efforts ... I looked at your graphs, and since the issue seems to focus on a few trouble spots, why not try a few more things to see if a solution will surprise us.

Storport.sys/iastor.sys & Intel Rapid Storage Technology
I've actually recommended this for a few other troubled systems in the past, but it's been a while, so I'm going to link to a how-to (rather than trying to remember each exact step). Basically, you move from using the Intel-specific Rapid Storage Technology drivers, to using generic drivers.
Uninstalling the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology driver - Microsoft Community

Generic USB 3.0 driver rather than Asus/Asrock provided USB 3.0 driver
If the current USB 3.0 driver is the Asus/Asrock version (usually downloaded from their website, or installed from a "driver CD" that comes with the motherboard), try using a generic Intel USB 3.0 driver. You can try uninstalling the current driver using Device Manager, and then visiting Windows update (probably before you restart [so that you don't end up reinstalling the same Asus-version driver]) and let Windows Update provide whatever USB 3.0 driver it has in its library.

High Interrupt count for the nvlddmkm.sys Nvidia driver
I've been looking into several threads with this driver experiencing high interrupt counts - and your computer is one of those showing this effect. I think, but I'm not sure yet, that the driver has to do with power management for the Nvidia card. There have been several strategies used to varying success mentioned in tech forums, here are a few of the ideas:
1) If you haven't already, set your Energy Plan to "Maximum Performance" in Control Panel's "Power Options" app.
2) If that step doesn't help, you can try using an old app to lower the Nvidia power management settings, called Nvidia "PowerMizer". This used to help a few users who had Windows 7 - some Windows 10 users report that it helps in 10 also ... [though some report that sometimes updates arrive, and then they have to re-set the power settings again using PowerMizer]. The trick is to lower the settings, as mentioned in the thread (scroll down to the reply by Douglas Wilcox):
Screen going black but still running - General Hardware - Laptop - Dell Community
3) If neither of those steps help, you can try an alternate/opposite attempt --- use a few Registry tweaks to disable the power management of nvlddmkm.sys ... this will only work if the Windows 10 Nvidia Registry settings are in the same places as the Windows 7 settings...

A few systems are trying these steps --- let us know if you have any success...

Thanks!
I did all the steps, with the last one latency monitor have better value but still not good ad it should be. However most of this tips are for mobile platform, maybe for desktop we have to search for something else ;)

What module seems the biggest offender now? Is it still the SATA/AHCi coming & goings?

That power management component of the Nvidia driver is a real tricky customer. Which method did you use to limit the power management of the card? (The first option was to try using Power Mizer to limit the throttling ... the second method attempts to limit the power management of the card using Registry entries).....

Are hard pagefaults up at all?

I used the method with Registry entries.

Those are the latency monitors data:

Well, the latency and hard pagefaults still look a bit ugly. Tell you what, if you are using an older version of Latency Monitor, uninstall it & install the latest version from resplendence.com .... the latest version is version 6.50, and it was updated for Windows 10. Run the monitor again with the newer version, and see if anything changes.

It looks like you might want to shutdown Skype while gaming ... it's numbers were high on that last graph.

USBPort.sys & Storport.sys are still high on the interrupts too ...

I'll keep looking...

I did a clean of the pc and installed a new fan and the value now are a bit better.

There is a way to unistall the skype of windows? I don't use it.

Big news, the problem for now is fixed, I moved the HDD from Sata3 port to Sata2 port and seems to work good.

Quite a drop after moving to the different SATA port, especially the ISR (interrupt) counts. Now if eventually Nvidia releases a driver that fixes the high pagefaults, we'll all be quite a bit happier.

Glad you had an open SATA port! Good work.

I have a new problem not related di DPC but related to windows 10. All microsoft app, also the store are not working... I don't have idea why this happen

A bit worrisome that the Apps stopped working... but it might have been a location reference that was affected by the SATA port change (if it moved from being DR0 to DR1 or DR2, for example) ..

If that is all it is, you might find quick relief with a single command using PowerShell. It will reinstall all the built-in Windows 10 apps. Here's how:

To Reinstall All the built-in Windows 10 Apps using PowerShell

1) Click on the Windows 10 Start Menu icon
2) Select All Apps
3) Scroll down to the Windows PowerShell folder, and select it
4) Right-click on Windows PowerShell, and select "run as administrator"
5) From the PowerShell prompt, enter
Get-AppxPackage -allusers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register "$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode}

You can copy-and-paste this command (easier and rules out typos).

This will take just a few minutes. But be patient, on a truly busy system it might be a bit slower. You will likely notice a lot of errors scrolling by while the apps reinstall ... this is (apparently) normal (so say the experts) ... I imagine much of the errors are actually informational in nature - letting you know, for example, that you already have a copy of this file or that file....

When it is done, you can exit PowerShell & restart your computer. See if the apps are back & working OK.

Cheers

Hi again

Did you restart your computer after running the commands (& exiting PowerShell)? If you haven't restarted yet, try that.

If restarting didn't/doesn't help, let's give the Microsoft Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter a try. You can find it using the link below:
Solution Details

You might have to restart your computer for the "fix it" to finish its magic.

In case that doesn't work, you could try to clear the Windows Store's "cache" (temporary storage), using a tiny little app that does that.
1) Click your Windows 10 Start Menu icon
2) Select All Apps
3) Scroll down a bit and select the Windows System folder
4) Select Run, and in the box type wsreset.exe
5) Select OK

Seems like you might have to coax things along with a restart for that one, too.

Let me know if none of that helps.

Other methods: some try creating a new user account (a new "profile") & transferring all their personal data over to it (if it works). And some folks try a tactic called an in-place re-install of Windows 10 (which has several "gotchas" -- details that need to be "just right" for it to work well). Making a new account only involves going into Settings, then Accounts. Reinstalling in-place is a bit complicated. If it comes to that, there's a nice guide for it from the folks at tenforums: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

Nothing to do with wsreset.exe and Microsoft Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter, they have this error:

I noticed that in all apps, the apps that are not working are grey:
