[SOLVED] Win10 - refuses to update to 22H2

Do you have a spare (similar) system to clone the Windows installation to?

I do not at the moment, all of my other computers are Linux. This one is kept specifically to run manycam and the video processing / online meeting software in windows.

If we removed just the driver, and then replaced it later, is that possible? What I need is all the settings, but I don't know where they are stored nor if they will remain intact on uninstall.

Ok. Open the startmenu and typ devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manager, and post a screenshot of the Imaging devices as below.

Right click the ManyCam Virtual Webcam and select update driver, let me know the result.

it says it can not find any updated drivers for manycam

In the meantime I have installed ManyCam to compare some things, it seems the related driver (and maybe other components) are removed from your system. Below some notes about the issue(s) with the virtual webcam driver. In cases of communication problems with drivers ManyCam also suggests to uninstall the program and reinstall the latest version as well.

Interesting. something to note: a recent version introduced a "virtual video driver" as a beta , where it has always have a "virtual webcam driver". I do not know the difference. At the moment, I have the new video driver turned off. It was turned on earlier, but i dont know if i ever tried to update with that driver on. there does not seem a way to disable the webcam driver and only use the new video driver.

The FAQ at ManyCam states: "(...) The next step is to uninstall and reinstall ManyCam to get rid of the old driver and install the new one."

So I don't see any other option than follow these instructions, or contacting their technical support.

Ok, I will try that. I was considering upgrading anyway. But I probably cant try this until friday

Turns out I have a late start tomorrow, so perhaps I could do this tonight. What do you recommend?

1. uninstall manaycam
2. check drivers are gon (how?)
3. download and install new version
4. Test update (which way? in place, from windows update, etc)

I would suggest the following:

1. uninstall manaycam
2. reboot the system and attempt to update first the normal way.

Here is the story so far:

Uninstall manycam
Download newest manycam and installattempt windows update
Failed just as before

Uninstall manycam
Ran in place offline upgrade
Failed just as before

Ideas?

Hmm, please provide the following logfiles.

C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log

just noticed something odd... The update history does not match current update level. The version it is trying to install was already successfully installed a couple years ago. How is this possible?

Under "about system: it says:
Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 20H2
Installed on ‎7/‎31/‎2020
OS build 19042.1165
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0

but under update history it says :

Hi,

That's strange, did you perhaps restore a backup in the past that removed the installation of 21H1?

No, I have never restored a backup

I have a faint recollection of removing an update once in the path of trying to resolve this update issue. Can't remember why exactly

Ok, could you please provide a (zipped) copy of the following folder that is used during the upgrade process.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\migration
