[SOLVED] [Win7Pro x64] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

Re: [Win7Professional] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

Just confirming...you are downloading the current one from the site and not using an existing one that you have correct?

Re: [Win7Professional] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

Sorry I didn't realize you had replied. Yes I'm using the procmon from your link.

Re: [Win7Professional] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

That seemed to work but even zipped the pml file is 150MB, too big to attach I think.

Re: [Win7Professional] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

It doesn't look like you provided the CBS.log. If you go back to Post#30 and look at the Procmon steps you will see that I need both the CBS.log and the Procmon.log in order to diagnose. Can you re-do please?

OK, please do the following as I see a corrupt file we need to fix.
SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Dropbox or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the link.

Re: [Win7Professional] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Re: [Win7Professional] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

This is the cbs log for sfctxt run above. The first time i had included the sfcfix.zip into this one large one i've been compiling so it didn't perform the reboot that yours seems to. So I ran mine again then ran the sfcfix.zip you provided and this is the subsequent cbs log after that.

Re: [Win7Professional] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

I'm not ready for you to attempt to install the SP yet. Not sure if that's what you are doing. After you run the script I provided then I need you to do the following again.

SFC Scan
