FRST File Search
  1. Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  2. Copy and paste icrav03.rat into the Search box and click the Search Files button.
  3. When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'Search.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also.
  4. Close Notepad and attach the file 'Search.txt' to your next reply.

Step 1:
WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it on your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.
    1p8eDnI.gif
  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Attach that file to your next reply.

Step 2:
Follow the instructions below to run a scan with the DISM tool and provide a log.
  1. Right-click the Start button and click Command prompt(Administrator).
  2. If you get a popup about UserAccountControl, allow the program to run.
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each.

    Code:
    dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Wait for this to finish before you continue

    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.log"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.log on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Which SFCFix.zip should I download? The attached one, or the one linked in step 1?

Sorry for the confusion. I edited message #64. Use the attached one in message #64.

Remove Update Manually
  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt.
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
    wusa /uninstall /KB:4495585
  4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

FRST Registry Search
  1. Click your Start button and choose Control Panel.
  2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
  3. Select the Programs group.
  4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Server Manager dialog.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps. You can minimize it if you wish but keep it open.
  5. Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  6. Copy and paste KB4495585 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
  7. When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'SearchReg.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also. Close Notepad and attach the file 'SearchReg.txt' to your next reply.
  8. You may close any remaining open windows now.

Step 1:
Warning: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Do not run this script on another machine.
  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right-click on FRST64.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  3. Press the Fix button.
  4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
  5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2:
Check Windows Update and report the result.

Windows Update didn't say that it had to revert the changes, but the update still failed to complete. Attached is my CBS folder after scanning with SFC and the requested log file.

Small update: When restarting my computer for other reasons, the computer never got past undoing the update while turning back on. I then used the power button to manually turn off and on the computer - after doing this three times, I was able to turn the computer on, and it turns out that it didn't undo the update.

Then, I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter standalone application found on this page. It claims to have fixed everything, although there are still some persistent errors detected by SFCFix (see below). See the attached diagnostic log for details.

Finally, I ran SFCFix one more time, obtaining the attached SFCFix output.

SFCFix.exe to run the tool. A dialog may come up asking for approval. If it does go ahead and allow.
On completion a log file (SFCFix.txt) will be opened. Copy and Paste its content into your next reply.

Ah, I do suppose that CBS log is pretty big. Here's the SFCFix output:

These seem to be the same four files as last time.

Also, DISM wants me to reboot my system. While I doubt such a rollback would be effective, do you think I should go through with it?
