[SOLVED] Windows error 0x80073712 not fixed

I'm happy to go with whichever one you think is better, bearing in mind you have spent a lot of time on this.

Also, please try the following. Instead of clicking on the icon in the lower right corner of the screen to reserve your copy of Windows 10, see if this results in anything different.

1. Click the Start button.
2. Type Windows Update in the Search box.
3. Click on Windows Update that shows up in the search results.

4. You should see something like shown above where it says "Windows 10 is coming soon." What happens if you click on the Reserve your free upgrade link?

The security update will not install. However, it now says that the Windows 10 upgrade is reserved:dance:
Do you still want the logs?

However, it now says that the Windows 10 upgrade is reserved
Excellent. That was the goal.

If you are satisfied with this we can call it a day. If you would like to troubleshoot your IE issues then yes I will need the logs. It's entirely up to you. IE failures are notoriously hard to fix but we always give it a shot. If you do want to continue you will need to attempt to install the update again and then send the logs. The logs are volatile so if you don't send them immediately after the install attempt it won't have the info we are looking for.

Either way, let me know. Thanks.

Awesome. Here's the issue preventing that update from installing.
Code:
2015-07-21 14:58:59, Error CSI 0000039e@2015/7/21:13:58:59.942 (F) d:\win7sp1_gdr\base\wcp\componentstore\storelayout.cpp(11690): Store corruption detected in function ComponentStore::CRawStoreLayout::CheckFamilyIndexForDeadWinnerComponent expression: (null)

I'd like to check your registry for some info. Please do the following.

1. Click on the Start
Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it one at a time and press enter after each.
REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
REG QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\x86_microsoft-windows-ie-runtimeutilities_31bf3856ad364e35_9.4.8112.16443_none_600fadd3a6d8ec48" /S >1 | NOTEPAD 1

4. Notepad will open with some info in it. Please copy/paste this into your next post. Thank you.

The first command loads successfully. After entering the 2nd command it says "ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified key or value".

Good. That's what I had hoped. Please do the following.

Step#1 - SFCFix Script
Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.
  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop. If you still have this on your desktop from downloading previously, you don't need to re-download.
  2. Download the file below, SFCScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please

Step#2 - Attempt Install of Update KB3065822
Attempt to install this update and if it fails, please zip and send me the following logs
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

That's odd. Please provide a copy of your components hive. That way I won't have to guess what is missing.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.

When you get back, please attempt to install the security update KB3065822 through the Windows Update interface this time. Don't use the downloaded file. When it fails, please zip/attach a new C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

Thanks.

I got what I needed, thank you.

OK, now please go ahead and attempt to install IE11. When it fails, please provide the following logs.
C:\Windows\IE11_Main.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Thanks.
