[SOLVED] Windows Server 2012R2 update error code 80070032

The DISM errors are fixed. The vc80.crt corruptions are still listed and so I suggest you extract the files from your Twin server and we can see if they will work.

On the twin server download the attached script onto the desktop and then drag and drop it onto SFCFix.exe. Once done upload the new replacement.zip file in your next post.

Now use the attached zip file to replace the folders in your broken system.

Download the attached file to your desktop, drag and drop it onto SFCFix.exe.

Once complete, please redo the DISM restorehealth scan and post the new CBS.log file.

It looks as if the repairs have all completed. Let me know if you have any success with Windows update.

Hello,

the manual update failed, too. In CBS.log I found this line:

Code:
Failed to pin deployment while resolving Update: Package_26_for_KB4592484~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.9.CRITDOQ-4592484-35_neutral_GDR from file: (null) [HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING]

Please see attached file.

Cheers

Hi Ferdi,

I was hoping it would sort itself out but it hasn't. There are two errors:
Code:
2021-11-18 23:27:49, Info CBS Failed to pin deployment while resolving Update: Package_26_for_KB4592484~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.9.CRITDOQ-4592484-35_neutral_GDR from file: (null) [HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING]
2021-11-18 23:27:49, Info CBS Failed to bulk stage deployment manifest and pin deployment for package:Package_2870_for_KB5007247~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.16 [HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING]
If you look back further in the logs you see this:
Code:
2021-11-18 23:26:38, Info CBS Appl: Selfupdate, Component: amd64_cpu.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_0.0.0.0_none_dd42ebcfefe8cd1f (6.3.9600.19880), elevation:4, lower version revision holder: 6.3.9600.16384
2021-11-18 23:26:38, Info CBS Appl: SelfUpdate detect, component: amd64_cpu.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.19880_none_4e047ea7c35bff71, elevation: 4, applicable: 1
2021-11-18 23:26:38, Info CBS Appl: Package: Package_26_for_KB4592484~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.9, Update: CRITDOQ-4592484-35_neutral_GDR, Applicable: Applicable, Disposition: Installed
2021-11-18 23:26:38, Info CBS Plan: Package: Package_26_for_KB4592484~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.9, Update: CRITDOQ-4592484-35_neutral_GDR, current: Absent, pending: Default, start: Absent, applicable: Installed, targeted: Superseded, limit: Superseded, selected: Default

The problem is that there is no component "amd64_cpu.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.19880_none_4e047ea7c35bff71" in your registry and as far as I can tell it is not on your TWIN server either so I have not been able to find a source for it. Please note that back in post #191 I tried to install KB4592484 but you reported that the update was not compatible.

If you can check any of your other servers and see if you can find that key in your registry (make sure the COMPONENTS hive is loaded) it might be a help.

Note: To ensure the COMPONENTS hive is loaded into the registry:
Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt:
reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS

Hi Ferdi,

That could be quite useful. Please send me the Components hive from that system.

  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply.

Unfortunately, there were no registry entries for that component.

Hello,

I'm lost. You mentioned in post#209

Note: To ensure the COMPONENTS hive is loaded into the registry:
Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt:
reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS

Should I run this command on "the other" system to prepare a propper copy of COMPONENTS?

Cheers
Ferdi

No that will not be necessary, I only instructed you to do that so that you could try and search within the registry of your other servers for the key. You ended up searching in file manager but that's ok.

Give me a day or two and I'll get back with some more ideas.

Hi Ferdi,
I want to revisit the attempt to install KB4592484 - see back to post #191

Install Update with DISM
  1. If necessary redownload the update MSU here: http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._de40107ba0282603bbeb96f655bb06334ee41e6a.msu
  2. Copy the MSU file to a convenient location (such as C:\temp).
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  5. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd C:\temp

replace C:\temp with your path if different

    expand windows8.1-kb4592484-x64_de40107ba0282603bbeb96f655bb06334ee41e6a.msu -f:* C:\temp

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\windows8.1-kb4592484-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
  7. Make sure you allow the computer to restart if prompted.

Please report if it was successful or not.

Hello,

the operation looks like it was successful. No reboot needed. Please see attached file.

Cheers
Ferdi
