[SOLVED] Windows Server 2012R2 update error code 80070032

I should have asked you to also run an SFC /scannow and report on the the outcome. Please do that.

The errors look different this time and it looks like a reboot was requested so we will wait for that to happen tonight. Tomorrow please run another DISM and provide the new logs, I am not expecting it to complete but I want to get the latest log and then work on providing a manual fix.

Hello,

I switched to 7zip-Format and ignored the cab-files because of bandwidth-limitations. Compression with ppmd is much more efficient now. I hope this is not a proplem.

Hello Ferdi,

Well I have looked at the latest log and can see that the file we tried to work on by adding the new version files to the Backup folder is still the problem. It turns out there is another version of this file which I did not consider, see these entries which are also in my folder.

I suspect that you will find that these are missing in your equivalent folder just as the amd64 ones were.

If this is the case I have prepared the following fix to add them.

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Attach this SFCFix.txt file into your next post for me to check please.
After this has completed you can run SFC /scannow and then follow this with another DISM restorehealth to see if it has worked this time. (There may be a reboot required after the SFC scan so you may have to work around that too.)

Good news! The Windows.UI.Xaml.dll file regeneration error we were correcting is no longer appearing. Instead we are seeing a new file with a regeneration error. DISM seems to fail every time it encounters one of these errors. Let's hope there are not too many more of them.

Code:
2021-08-17 22:13:30, Error CSI 00000014 (F) Failed on regenerating file [l:14{7}]"mup.sys"[gle=0x80004005]
2021-08-17 22:13:30, Error                 CSI    00000015@2021/8/17:20:13:30.909 (F) base\wcp\componentstore\corruptionrepair.cpp(1691): Error STATUS_INTERNAL_ERROR originated in function ComponentStore::CRawStoreLayout::ReplaceFileA expression: Disposition == DecompressNullDeltaCompressedFile_Disposition::Decompressed
[gle=0x80004005]

I will look into this and hopefully can create a fix as before. Thank you for your patience.

And here is the fix:

Hello,

the sfc console output was like before. After reboot dism outputs different (100%, error 0x800f0906, source files couldn't be downloaded).

Thank you. This is good news again. The DISM has gone through to 100% and the logs now show a SURT section with a list of manifest files that need replacing. I have sourced these files for you and provide them below. There will be more to fix because the SURT section was not complete.

After this has completed you can run SFC /scannow and then follow this with another DISM restorehealth to see if it has worked this time. (There may be a reboot required after the SFC scan so you may have to work around that too.) Provide the CBS log again.

Hello Ferdi,

We are gradually working through the corruptions. Unfortunately because DISM is still throwing the error it does not complete the full list of all the corruptions so we get a few more after each fix. Here is the next zip file - you know what to do :-)

I am going to review this over the next few days and carefully go over the logs - I think there are some file hash mismatches that I had not spotted.

I now have a fix for the file hash mismatches that were spotted.

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Attach this log into your next post for me to check.

Next step:

DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

  1. Open a Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  3. When DISM finishes scanning your component store, zip up and attach your CBS log to your next post:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Something does not look right. The SFCFixScript which I asked you to drag and drop would not have produced that output. Did you post the wrong files?
