[SOLVED] Windows Server 2012R2 update error code 80070032

Hello Ferdi,

There are still more files needing attention.

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. If needed, download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, Ferdi6.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named Ferdi6.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and Ferdi6.zip.
  5. Drag the file Ferdi6.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Attach this SFCFix.txt file into your next post for me to check please.
After this has completed please run SFC /scannow and then follow this with another DISM restorehealth to see the current state of repair. (There may be a reboot required after the SFC scan so you may have to work around that too.) Provide the CBS log again.

Hello Ferdi,

I've been through the latest log and here are the fixes required:

1. There are still some file hash mis-matches - step 1 will deal with these.
2. There are several missing files associated with KB3000850; KB3000483; KB3145432; KB3134179 and KB3076949 updates. Most of these are associated with the first one so we will try and force the update through with DISM (step 2 below).

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

Step 1:
  1. If needed, download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, Ferdi7.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named Ferdi7.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and Ferdi7.zip.
  5. Drag the file Ferdi7.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Attach this SFCFix.txt file into your next post for me to check please.
  9. Run SFC /scannow.

Step 2:

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows8.1-KB3000850-x64.cab.
  2. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  3. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Go ahead and allow if you receive the UAC prompt.
  4. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows8.1-KB3000850-x64.cab
  5. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

If all goes well we will next attempt to replace the remaining missing files.

Hello Ferdi :-) ,

These installs all seem to be working OK so I will go ahead and provide you with the remaining three. Download the attached zip file and extract the three cab files to your desktop. You should be able to install these one at a time using the same procedure as before.

Let me know how you get on or if you need more detailed instructions.

Hello,

I installed the files in this order:

Windows8.1-KB3076949-x64.cab -> success
Windows8.1-KB3145432-x64.cab -> success
Windows8.1-KB3134179-x64.cab -> success

Cheers
Ferdi

Good work! I think it is time to do another check of the system files, Run SFC /scannow and let me know what happens. You can also run another DISM RestoreHealth and send the CBS logs.

Hello Ferdi,

It looks as if the various KB updates have not improved the situation. I need to investigate the various sections of your registry to try and understand what is going on.

Step#1 - Export CBS hive
  • Click on the Start button and type regedit
  • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing
  • Once selected, click File > Export....
  • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (.).
  • Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on the saved file and choose Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload to Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Step#2 - Export SideBySide
  1. Click on the Start button and type regedit
  2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide
  4. Once selected, click File > Export....
  5. Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (.)
  6. Name this file SxS (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  7. Once done please upload this file via Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace.

Step#3 - Export Components Hive
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply.

You will need to redo the two attached zip files - when following the steps you omitted to save the export as a Registry Hive File type.

I am going to continue to work through the manifest corruptions reported in the most recent CBS.log. Since only a subset of these corruptions is reported each time we just have to keep going.

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Attach this file into your next post for me to check.

Run SFC /scannow (and reboot, if asked) then send me the latest CBS log.

Thanks Ferdi. According to the logs there are still missing files related to the boot critical components. I want to understand what is actually installed and so I want to do a search for the first of these missing components "crypttpmeksvc.dll". According to your components hive you have versions 16384, 17415 and 18344, it is v17415 which is missing.

The following search will reveal your various files:

Download the attached SFCFixScript.txt file to your desktop and drag and drop it over the SFCFix.exe file. The search will create a SFCFix.txt file which you can upload into your next post.

Hello Ferdi,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. In my spare time I have been working on a fix for these remaining errors and have something for you to try.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on their particular PC. Running this on another PC may cause damage to the operating system.

  1. If needed, download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Attach this log into your next post for me to check the results.
After this has completed you can run SFC /scannow and post a new CBS.log
