Windows Update Failure, W7-Pro SP1, Lenovo W510

This time, that installed fine, and rebooted into Windows.

What is the next step?

Please do the following.

Step 1:
Stop "Windows Update" service:
Open Windows Task Manager. Open the tab "Services".
Right-click on the service-name "wuauserv" and select "Stop service". If you can't select "Stop service", the service is already stopped.

Step 2:
Install following 4 updates one after the other.
Reboot the computer if you're asked todo so, then resume with the next update.

Go to Download Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3145739) from Official Microsoft Download Center and download the file Windows6.1-KB3145739-x64.msu.
Go to Download Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3078601) from Official Microsoft Download Center and download the file Windows6.1-KB3078601-x64.msu.
Go to Download Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3164033) from Official Microsoft Download Center and download the file Windows6.1-KB3164033-x64.msu.
Go to Download Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3109094) from Official Microsoft Download Center and download the file Windows6.1-KB3109094-x64.msu.

Let me know which ones install and which ones say they are already installed, etc.

I installed in the order given. #1, #2 already installed
#3 installed properly
#4 already installed

There were about 18 updates. Before rebooting, all were pending except one or two (not sure) fail. But, upon rebooting they all reverted.

Before you replied, I tried updating all except the two "Office" updates.

That reverted as well. So I checked for updates again...and here are the results:

That tried to install, but it led me to a black screen with a mouse pointer only. After sitting like that for 10 mins I shut down and restarted. Upon restarting, my update history says that KB3164035 is pending.

Ran check for updates again and now I have 15 updates. (Notice it doesn't list the pending one)

I had something weird happen, which was that SolidWorks 2013 (an installed program I haven't used in a while) started installing Solidworks SP2 upon restart (an interim update to that software), without my initiating it. I canceled. I am going to try to uninstall this program as I do not use it (it has been updated to 2016 although I don't have that version on my PC).

Now I have two pending updates... very odd.

I could not uninstall SolidWorks 2013 as it is in some corrupted state now.

At least "check for updates" is running faster now, although it appears I have two stuck pending updates. They both have the same error: 80242014

More promising this time...two apparent failures.

Running "check for updates" again...and there are only 4 now.

The update was initially successful, but when "configuring updates" (blue background) it gets to about 96% and then fails and reverts.

Once rebooted, it left the 4 updates as "pending." And, several errors popped up as well, such as these (among others).
