Windows Update has stopped working...

Now it says read only for permissions…

From Permissions dialog box, click Advanced button and click Change link at Owner: section and from opened dialog box type administrators and click Check Names button and click OK button and apply button to change owner of the wuauserv key.



Now try changing the permissions of administrators to Full and Read permissions.

Make sure System account also have Full and Read permissions.

That worked! I’ve enabled windows update on services.

Now change back owner to System account.

Also disable Administrator user account we enabled by executing net user administrator /active:no command.

Remove Everyone account and try again.

Did that, it starts and then immediately stops and reverts to disabled.
