OK, before we go any further, let's see whether the import restored the two values we scripted.

Please do the following ....

  • Start FRST.
  • Hit your Windows Key + R to open a Run window
  • Type Notepad then click OK
  • This will open an empty Notepad document
  • Copy/Paste the following into it (Don't include Code: ) .....
Code:
cmd: reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
cmd: reg query HKLM\COMPONENTS
  • Save it as fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST (must be in this location)
  • NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user. Running it on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
  • Now press the Fix button once and wait.
  • FRST will process fixlist.txt
  • When finished, it will produce a log fixlog.txt in the same folder/directory as FRST64.exe
  • Please post me the log

OK, looks like the two values we removed earlier, and which were being flagged in your last CBS.log, have been successfully restored.

So please do the following ....

First ... Reboot your Computer.

Upon reboot ...

  • Click Search button and type Command Prompt
  • From the results, right click on the Command Prompt icon, and select Run as administrator
  • A Command Window will open.
  • Copy paste the command below into it, then press Enter
  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

If DISM completes successfully try to update, if DISM doesn't complete successfully post me your latest CBS.log

If you're able to update let me know ..... if not post me your latest CBS.log

Hello.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth ends sucessfully.

When I update the server, it's find KB5023788. Server apply and ask for reboot, but on reboot server rollback.

I upload CBS.log

Thank you.

OK, we appear to be back to where we were a short time ago, and your update is failing due to the servicing stack you have installed. Last time we tried installing the relevant SSU whilst there was still an unresolved update in place, so what I intend to do this time is to remove the unresolved update KB5023788 and only when we know it's been removed, will we try to install the SSU for 10.0.14393.5285

So, please do the following ...

  • Click Search and type CMD
  • Right click the CMD App from the search results and select Run as Administrator
  • With the App open ...
    • Copy/Paste the following Command into it ...
    • reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
      • This loads your COMPONENT hive.
    • You can now close the Command window.
  • Right-click on FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator
    • Copy and paste ... KB5023788 ... into the Search box.
    • Click the Search Registry button.
    • When the scan is complete ...
      • A log will open on your Desktop ... SearchReg.txt
    • Attach the file ... SearchReg.txt ... to your next reply.
  • You may close any remaining open windows now.

  • Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the same location as FRST (must be in same folder or it won't process).

Next ...

  • Click on the Search button and type Cmd
  • From the search results choose Command Prompt then Run as Administrator
  • When prompted by UAC allow the prompt.
  • When the Command Prompt Window opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press Enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:4512574
  • IF SUCCESSFUL LET ME KNOW
  • IF UNSUCCESSFUL .....

  • Click Search and type CMD
  • Right click the CMD App from the search results and select Run as Administrator
  • With the App open ...
    • Copy/Paste the following Command into it ...
    • reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
      • This loads your COMPONENT hive.
    • You can now close the Command window.
  • Next ...
  • Right-click on FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator
    • Copy and paste ... KB4512574 ... into the Search box.
    • Click the Search Registry button.
    • When the scan is complete ...
      • A log will open on your Desktop ... SearchReg.txt
    • Attach the file ... SearchReg.txt ... to your next reply.

OK, your problem appears to be related to a number of updates that have not been successfully installed. We've removed some, but there appear to be others.

There are indications for two possible "new" ones in your latest CBS.log, but I need to check whether that is the case, and then consult with my colleagues before taking any further action.

So please do the following ...

  • Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

Next ...

  • Click on the Search button and type Cmd
  • From the search results choose Command Prompt then Run as Administrator
  • When prompted by UAC allow the prompt.
  • When the Command Prompt Window opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press Enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:5012170
  • Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

I don't need you to run a search with FRST at this point, I just need to know whether Windows tells you that those two updates are installed or not.

Hello

wusa /uninstall /KB:4512574 not installed.
wusa /uninstall /KB:5012170 not installer too.

Thanks.

Yes, figured that might be the case.

Gonna consult first, before removing them, but we might as well save a little time by running a search for them with FRST.

KB4512574;KB5012170 ... into the Search box.
    • Click the Search Registry button.
    • When the scan is complete ...
      • A log will open on your Desktop ... SearchReg.txt
    • Attach the file ... SearchReg.txt ... to your next reply.
  • You may close any remaining open windows now.

Strange, FRST didn't find any entries for KB5012170 which given the error lines in your last CBS.log I would have expected it to.

Can you please send me a copy of your CBS hive ...

  • Click on the Start button and in the search box, type regedit
    • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing

  • Once selected, click File > Export....
    • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (.)
    • Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on the saved file and choose Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, please upload to a file sharing service.
  • Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline

You've posted me a .Reg file, when I specifically asked for you to save the file as a Hive file.

Please re-read the instructions I gave in post #55 and post me the Hive file that I asked for (sorry if this sounds a bit perempt, it's not meant to).

Can you also post me a copy of the following file please .... C:\Windows\WinSxS\pending.xml

No problem.

Can you post me a copy of the following file please ... C:\Windows\WinSxS\pending.xml ... it may give us a further clue as to which update is causing the install failures.
