[SOLVED] 0xc1900101 - 0x30018 installation failed at FIRST_BOOT phase with a error during SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE

Hi,

Just a question. You stopped the Process Monitor before the restart, what was the message in the Windows Update window?

Hi,

Please run the following command in an elevated commandprompt.
Code:
dir /s /a "%windir%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" > "%userprofile%\desktop\Driverstore.txt"
This command will create a file called Driverstore.txt on your desktop, attach this file to your next reply.

Hoi,

Please run the following commands in an elevated commandprompt.
Code:
reagentc /info > "%userprofile%\desktop\bootconfig.txt"
bcdedit /enum >> "%userprofile%\desktop\bootconfig.txt"
This command will create a file called bootconfig.txt on your desktop, attach this file to your next repply.

Hi,

Open the startmenu and typ diskmgmt.msc and provide a screenshot of the system partitions.

If you think it is partition related I could try cloning the SSD to a spare and try the updated from that.

Hi,

I proposed another option to fix (restore) your system, but I am waiting for approval of it.

Hi,

There are a lot of problems with this system, 1) the Recovery Partition is missing, 2) the Windows Recovery Environment is disabled, 3) there are multiple issues with problematic drivers. The best way to fix all those problems is to reinstall your system. In post #8 you said, that a clean install is not an option, because you need some old applications for work.

What you can do, is:
1. Disconnect your current SSD and install Windows 10 on a new SSD drive.
2. Connect your current SSD to the system.
2. With the Bios Boot Selector (BBS) you can start from both SSD's whitout a bootloader.
3. In this way you can migrate all the software and re-configure the new installation, when you have the time for it.

In your situation, this is the best way I think to reinstall Windows without any downtime of the old and corrupt installation.

Sorry we were unable to help you to solve this update problem.

Thanks for all the help is there any way to pull a full backup from this system and restore on a fresh install with same drives?

Hi,

No, that is not possible, in that way you will also copy all the corruptions and problematic drivers. I f you can provide a list of the drivers you need, then I can take a look if I can find reliable versions for Windows 10.

I had the latest bios but loaded the latest chipset, lan and sound drivers from the asus support site but the updated still failed :-{.

Indeed, re-installing this set of drivers will not solve the issue with Windows Update. If it was that simple, we had already advised this option. The only remaining option is an clean install.

I purchased another SSD the same one I am currently using is there a way to clone the drive while creating the backup partition?
