disk management unable to connect to virtual disk service

Did you check if all of your USB ports are free (without usb keys)?
Or the card reader (without miniSD/microSD)?

If they are free, try this command (from an elevated command prompt):

wmic partition get Name, StartingOffset

I get (I've got 8 partitions, but the 3rd one of MS isn't displayed):

I forgot: did you try to start your PC in safe mode and check if disk management worked?

Yes I have here is what I think happen some non microsoft disk management product replace microsoft logical disk manager for advanced disk management which can disable the logical disk manager now I need to find out which product did this, how about running the farbar scan tool?

I didn't understand if it works in safe mode.
I assume it doesn't work.
Now, only if you have a full system image and you have a backup of your important data, you can try to align all of your partitions.
It's a function present (also) in the program you showed (mini tool partition wizard).
Currently, the starting offset of your first partition shows you have upgraded your machine from windows xp to windows vista: am I correct?

Sorry for not fully explaining disk management does not work in safe mode, either and I never upgraded this machine from xp ,I brought this machine new with vista.With vista home premiere I cannot make a full image backup . Now trying to align all of my partitions using the mini tool partition i will have to study how to do that or you can direct me on how to do that. A tutorial on how to use that tool efficiently is greatly needed.

You can use aomei backupper standard (click) (it's free to download and to use) to:

• create the aomei CD/usb key to start windows when there are problems (this media has to be tested as soon as it is ready to use).
• create a full system image right after it.

I would be surprised if a tool with the word "wizard" inside its name didn't make a wizard (and didn't explain it): partitionwizard.com - Align All Partitions (click).

So what you are telling me is first is to create a bootable media usb drive correct? and for me to do that I must download some other software that I am not familiar with so I need your guidance through this just to make sure that I do this right okay?

AOMEI tutorial: How to Download Windows AIK and How to Install It? (click).

Detailed instructions or how to create a bootable media with aomei backupper standard 4.0.2:

• Download aomei backupper standard (click).
• Check its installer with your antivirus, then (if it's ok) install it and start it.
• Click utilities (menu on the left side).
• Click create bootable media.
• Select windows pe radio button and click next.
• At this point the program could tell you that you need to install windows AIK (but if it doesn't tell you, just skip this point and the following three).
  Hence download windows AIK for windows vista SP1 - KB3AIK_EN.iso (click).
• Download magicISO (click), scan it, install it, start it.
• Mount the windows AIK ISO (in magicISO): you'll see the windows AIK will be started as if it were a CD (it should "auto-run" itself).
• Click on Run StartCD.exe: this will install windows AIK on your PC.
• AOMEI Backupper at this point shouldn't complain anymore:
  Click either create the bootable disk based on UEFI boot mode orcreate the bootable disk based on legacy boot mode.
  I think you (Carl A) should choose LEGACY, because I didn't see the EFI partition in your pictures.
  Click next.​
• Select bootable media window should appear: choose cd or usb (the one you prefer), then click next and leave it work until it finishes.
• I think nothing relevant should appear at this point, just close the programs and test the new created media.

The windows AIK for windows vista sp1 I have windows vista sp2 .I looked at the system requirements and what it supports and the vista sp2 is not listed. these servers are listed windows 2008 r2 family and windows server 2008 family do my machine fit this category.

Good morning forum it's 8:41 am in the USA eastern time and it is a good day to make money and to solve some computer issues . I followed the instruction no# 91 of this thread but there is some incongruence with the instruction on how to download the AIK when I right click on the kb3aik_en (winrar)it leads me to mount kb3aik._en install magic disk virtual cd/dvd manager then it takes me to a web site and not in accordance with the instructions that was presented previously. H ere is a picture of what's going on and where I am at so far.

Here is also another person having the same issue with the instructions.The instructions are incorrect. After downloading KB3AIK file and downloading & executing MAGICISO and right clicking on KB3AIK and click on Mount KB3AIK, I get the message 'INSTALL MAGICDISK VIRTUAL CD/DVD MANAGER(FREEWARE' not the message indicated in your example and if I click on the only link I get taken to a MAGIC ISO MAKER webpage.

Scrap the last two threads I just figured out the answer to all the problems that I was having with installing the windows Aik and the Aomei creating bootable media. There are a couple of steps that are not explain that can confuse recipient of the instructions.The Aomei tutorial leaves out two important steps that a person needs to know to complete the task and save that person a lots of time trying to figure out how to perform the work. ON my next post if someone wants to know those tasks then I will explain it.

I have gotten to the point where I am trying to boot from the usb drive but is meet with many problems number 1 is this option is not available to me so I cannot perform the bootable media.
(create the bootable disk based on UEFI boot mode orcreate the bootable disk based on legacy boot mode.) this is not on vista as far as i know and not showed in the steps to create the bootable usb drive with aomei.

Here is the steps that aomei wants you to follow but it is leading me to a culdesac. step 1 aomei create bootable media
step 2 windows pe create bootable disc
step3 windows pe program detect that you already installed windows AIK
then the next step take me directly to select bootable media and not create the bootable disk based on UEFI boot mode orcreate the bootable disk based on legacy boot mode. I finally got it to load but the home screen of Aomei comes up and not the bootable media in fact the options in utilities does even list bootable media recovery.
