Error 80073712: Havent been able to install most updates for almost 2 years

Hi again,

I have this error now:

Error: 87

DISM doesn't recognize the command-line option "Al-Jefairi\desktop\Windows6.1-KB
4462923-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab".
For more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

---------------------------

I think the error happened because my user profile is 2 names (which has a space between them). So it thinks the second name is part of a command I suppose.
Also, I believe the command is wrong. I assume it's suppose to be this:
dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab
instead of:
dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab

So, I hope this is ok. I figured I can go ahead, copy the folder to C:/ instead, and use the following command:
dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab
Once I did that, I got this error:
Processing 1 of 1 - Adding package Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~
~7601.24263.1.4
[== 4.0% ]
An error occurred - Package_for_RollupFix Error: 0x80073701

Error: 14081

The referenced assembly could not be found.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Assuming you still want the CBS.log, I have it attached.

Greetings.

Yes, you were correct the space in your user name caused the issue.

Greetings.

Great. I would like for us to repeat our steps in Post #49 to see which Windows Updates are available now.

Hi,

Same ones. Here they are again:

Important:
KB4462923
KB2952664

Optional:
KB4462927
KB4462500

In addition, there are 2 more in the important columns. They are NOT for windows 7 though. They are supposedly for Office 2010 (which I have). It says that they were published just a weeks ago (11/06/2018)
Here are their numbers:
KB2863821
KB4461522

Thank you for the update.

Let's retry a previous attempt to install an Update. Please do this, making sure the Windows6.1-KB4462923-x64.cab folder is on the Desktop.

Thank you for the information.

There is a similar but different error in the latest CBS log. I just wanted to let you know there is a bit of research to do and I will need to continue it in the morning. Looks like you are online and I didn't want to leave you hanging, not knowing I am logging off for the evening.

Thanks for your understanding, I really do appreciate it.

Greetings.

We need to repeat some steps we took to get updated information. If you still have the Components.zip and setupapi.dev.log.zip files on your Desktop rename them to include "old" before completing the below.

Please do this.

  • Reboot your computer
  • If necessary, download SFCFix.exe by niemiro and save it to your Desktop
  • Download View attachment SFCFix.txt and save it to your Desktop

  • Drag the SFCFix.txt file over the SFCFix.exe icon and release it to run the fix
  • Once processed a SFCFix.txt document will open on your Desktop, with a copy placed on your Desktop as well
  • Copy and paste the contents of the SFCFix.txt report in your reply
  • In addition, a Components.zip and setupapi.dev.log.zip file will be placed on your desktop
  • Upload the Components.zip and setupapi.dev.log.zip files to either SendSpace or the upload site of your choice and provide a link to the download in your reply

Hi,

The tool is causing me a headache. Apparently, there is a new version out, but it's not updating correctly, and the program is auto updating. Therefore, the result is that it's a continuous loop of trying to update.

I deleted the copies I had and proceeded to download a new one, but same issue.

Try launching it. Maybe you will see what I am talking about.

Thanks!

Greetings.

I just received notification from the author the newest version is experiencing problems. Try to disconnect from the internet when you are all set to run it and hopefully you will receive a notice the update failed which should stop the loop.

Greetings.

It has been reported the updated version of FRST is in good working order. I would recommend connecting back to the Internet and when you launch FRST allow it to update.

By all means let me know if you still experience any issues.

Hi,

sorry for the delay. I just want to inform you I'll probably be away today and possibly tomorrow. I'll be sure to reply as soon as I'm back
