[SOLVED] Help w/ corrupt files caused by Windows update

Hi,

Run SFC /scannow and tell me if it continues to report that found corrupted files that it could not repair.

Yes, it still indicates that it found corrupt files that it could not repair. Attached a link to the CBS.log as well. Thanks

Hi,

The log is strange because SFC continues to report as damaged the files fixed before!

Please restart the machine, next run chkdsk /f /x c: from the Command Prompt running as Administrator, restart again.

After the restart run SFC /scannow and post the new cbs.log

chkdsk /f /x c: is still only able to be run from Recovery Environment but I did run it and it said 'no problems were found but failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50'. Not sure what that means. Attached is link to the CBS.log. Thanks Dropbox - CBS (4).log

Seemed to install correctly as needed to reboot and upon rebooting said 'configuring windows update do not shut down computer'. I did notice this (see snippit) in [Solve PC issues] upon rebooting where it is asking if I want to send to Microsoft to check for solutions. Thanks

Hi,

Let windows send the issues log to Microsoft if you want I think those are related with old errors.

Run sfc /scannow and post the CBS.log lets see if the result is what I'm expecting.

By the way I think I know why chkdsk didn't work and I expect to fix that shortly.

Hi,

There is only one file that sfc didn't fix, lets see if the following fix take care of it.

Thanks, after executing the zip file, is there anything I need to do to see if it worked?

Sorry I forgot to request the SFCFix.txt log that resides on the Desktop. So I can check how the fix went.

Good the fix worked as expected.

Please run sfc /scannow I'm expecting no errors reported now.

It says it found no integrity violations. Thanks

Yeh :smile9:

Can you try chkdsk /f /x c: and tell me if you get the prompt to do the check on reboot?

I believe that is what it is showing on this screen shot?

Yes, that is the normal behavior.

Any Windows Updates waiting to install? If so try to install them and tell me if they install successfully.

Ok, good.

Any other problems? or we can consider this as resolved?
