The coronavirus may have mutated to become more infectious, Dr. Anthony Fauci says

The coronavirus has mutated in a way that might help the pathogen spread more easily, White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said Thursday.

Research is underway to confirm the possible mutation and its implications, Fauci said, adding that “there’s a little dispute about it.” Viruses naturally mutate and scientists have previously said they have observed minor mutations in the coronavirus that have not impacted its ability to spread or cause disease in any significant way.

I'm getting tired of Fauci.

One newscast over the weekend said he is worth over $500 million. No idea if true or not.

Another shocker to me - he is either 80 or 81 years old. I just assumed that he was much younger.

I thought the US Government had mandatory minimum retirement ages.

Wow John, really surprised to see you post that. From what I've read, we couldn't have a better person to lead the effort against Covid-19. I can't find anything on his net worth, but he's worked for the government since he graduated first in his class from Cornell. Government workers aren't known for their high salaries. He has a list of awards and honorary degrees longer than your arm. He helped lead the fights on HIV, SARS, avian influenza, swine flu, Zika, MERS, Ebola....

He's been director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. President Bush offered to make him director of the National Institutes of Health in 1989. He turned it down because he felt his work at NIAID was too important. In 2008, President Bush presented him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He's one of the most highly cited researchers of all time. He works 15 hours a day they say.

He has been the only voice who speaks the truth, with little regard to whether he contradicts what the Administration is saying. I personally feel better knowing he is out there doing what needs to be done, regardless

I tried to find a good article about him while I confirmed my facts before posting this. Have a read
