Win 10 install still fails at 9% complete during the "working on updates" phase. BSOD stop code is now MEMORY MANAGEMENT.

Error message after rollback is still the same.

Save any work you have open.
Click Start - Run.
Type mdsched.exe in the input-box, and click OK.
A window "Memory Diagnostic Tool" opens. Select the option "Restart now and check for problems (recommended)."
Allow the tool to perform the test. Follow the instructions that appear and report the result.

Done.

Memory test did not detect any issues i.e. From event viewer "The Windows Memory Diagnostic tested the computer's memory and detected no errors"

Okay. Perform the instructions in message #36 again en attach a fresh copy of the attached 4 files.

Which instructions ? Message #36 is me reporting the results of the Win 10 install.
What I ment was to perform the upgrade as you did before.

The problem looks the same as before.
Please do the following.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool to your desktop. Go ahead and run this. Note: Click the Download Now button when you are at this link.
2. Accept the license agreement
3. Keep the default which is to Upgrade your PC and click Next.
4. Go ahead and run this through and let me know when complete.

Disconnect the machine from the internet
Run the Media Creation Tool again.
Restore the internet connection when the installation is finished, successful or not.
Does that make any difference ?

Media Creation Tools complains about not being able to download necessary files. If I click OK the update doesn't continue.

error - no internet.JPG

Download & Run the tool SetupDiag
  1. Open the website SetupDiag Download Page
  2. Click the Download SetupDiag button.
  3. Create a new folder on your Desktop and nove the file SetupDiag.exe to that folder.
  4. Right-click the "SetupDiag.exe" and click Run as administrator.
  5. When completed, three files are created, "Log.zip," "SetupDiag.exe.config," and "SetupDiagResults.log" in the folder SetupDiag.exe was executed.
  6. Attach only the file "SetupDiagResults.log" to your next reply.

Setupdiag.exe wouldn't run by right-clicking on it and choosing Run as Administrator. A command window flashed up and off. I opened a command window with Admin access and had to enter "setupdiag /verbose" before it would run. Just running "setupdiag" in the command window was the same as running "setupdiag /?".

Is Windows 7 on this machine legit and activated ?
How is this machine connected to the internet, wired or wireless ?

Yes the Windows 7 is legit and is activated. The PC is connected to our router via ethernet cable. See the activation window shown below.

As per my first post, Windows 10also successfully installed and activated on this PC and it worked fine for 15 minutes until I activated Avast AV. Once that activated I started getting the BSOD so I rolled back to Win 7 and haven't been able to get Win 10 to successfully install ever since.

The product key was different after the Win 10 install (Win 10 digital licence). Likewise Win 7 wasn't exactly the same after the rollback with default programs, user permissions both needing to be reset i.e. URL/web links in emails wouldn't open, users couldn't open their own files, etc.Activation.JPG

Okay, maybe the installation of Windows 10 and the roll back to Windows 7 causes the current failure.

Open an elevated command prompt
Copy and paste the following command and press Enter:
Code:
slmgr /dli
A window will popup with some information. Take a screenshot of that paste it into your next reply.

Download

MiniToolBox and save the file on your desktop.

Note: Save all your work and close all programs!
Rightclick "MiniToolBox" and select "Run as administrator".

If you see the startup message "Are you sure you want to continue?" select Yes.
Put a checkmark at Select All.
Click "Go".
When the scan is finished a log file with the name "MTB.txt" will appear on your desktop.
Attach this log file to your next reply.
