Hmmm....OK, do you know how to get in to your BIOS? For a Dell computer it should be to hit F2 right after you power on your machine...when the Dell Logo appears.

I want to get in there and verify if Security Boot is enabled.

secure boot is enabled ( DART 64 needs this to boot ) the DART 64 is where I get my command prompt

load legacy oprom is disabled and greyed out

boot mode is UEFI and greyed out

Good. Do the following.
1. Turn on your computer
2. Start tapping the F8 key about a second a part until the Advanced Boot Options comes up.
3. Then select Repair Your Computer
4. One of the screen that should come up next is a Dell Factory Image recovery screen.

this is where things got messy in me trying to rest windows. When I boot now and press f8 ( or even if I do not press f8) I get a blie recovery screen that says we had problems windows/system32/winload.efi is missing or corrupt.

It gives choices of: enter to try again ( which returns to the recovery screen )

f8 to see start up settings ( again returns to blue screen )

f10 to see UEFI settings

I think I am going to have to do some downloads from the dell support site. I have found something available for my service tag

We can replace winload.efi without an issue if you want to try that first but I think we have some other options.

Boot your machine back to the command-prompt again.

Once you are at a command-prompt, type the following.
list volume

Which Ltr is your recovery partition? You can see below mine shows F
Capture.JPG

If you don't have a Ltr assigned to your Recovery partition then type the following.
select Volume 5 (assuming 5 is the volume of your recovery partition)
assign
list volume

Now, let me know the driver letter assigned.

before there were 3recovery partitions,. one was labeled WinRetTools for 500 mb, 223 free

another had no label, and one was labeled PBRimage at 8102 mb

Don't you think winRetTools is it?

Is there a problem if we pick the wrong one?

Good. Type exit and hit enter to get out of the diskpart utility.
Then type F: and hit enter.
Type dir and hit enter.

Let me know what the directories are that you see.
