[SOLVED] [Win8.1 x64] Win.Update spinning

Excellent. Please type the following and hit enter after each.
cd Image
dir

I'm hoping you have at least one .wim file in here. Let me know what files are in here.

OK, now let's assign a drive letter to the WinRutools volume.

Type the following.

diskpart
list volume

select Volume 3 (assuming 3 is the volume of winretools)
assign
list volume

Now, let me know the driver letter assigned.

OK, let's do the same thing.

Type Exit and hit enter to exit diskpart

Type g and hit enter
Type dir and hit enter and let me know what files/folders show.

If I am correct and if I have reported correctly, the crucial files are G:\recovery\windowsre\winre.wim

and F:|DELL\Image\PART0001\EFI.wim

I am rechecking all my command prompt results

OK, I have a plan. Can you do the following?

FRST Fix
1. Copy the attached fixlist.txt file to your USB drive that has FRST64.exe on it.
2. Plug in the USB drive into your sick computer.
3. In the command window type the word notepad and press Enter.
4. Notepad opens. Under the File menu select Open.
5. Select "Computer" and find out what your USB drive letter is and then close notepad.
6. In the command window type e:\frst (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter
Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your USB drive that you identified in step#5.
7. The tool will start to run.
8. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
9. Press Fix button.
10. It will make a log (fixlog.txt) on the USB drive. Please plug in the USB drive into your clean computer and copy and paste the contents of it into your reply.

It is 10:50 Pm where I am. I await your next advice but will not receive it and respond until about 8 hrs frm now at 6:30 am

This seems to be going successfully. Thanks again very, very much for all your help/

OK, assuming everything is as we left it and you are still in the command prompt, please type imagex and hit enter.

Let me know if it says 'imagex' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file or if it says something else.

The directory doesn't really matter. I wasn't sure if Imagex came on your recovery media that you are booting to. You can type X: and hit enter. Then type dir imagex* /s and hit enter to see if this program comes up.
