OK, plug the USB drive back in and assuming that your USB drive is still assigned letter H, please do the following.
1. Type H: and hit enter so you are accessing the USB drive.
2. Type the following and hit enter. imagex.exe /apply F:\Preload\base.swm /ref F:\Preload\base*.swm 1 C:
FRST Fix 1. Copy the attached fixlist.txt file to your USB drive that has FRST64.exe on it.
2. Plug in the USB drive into your sick computer. 3. In the command window type the word notepad and press Enter. 4. Notepad opens. Under the File menu select Open. 5. Select "Computer" and find out what your USB drive letter is and then close notepad. 6. In the command window type e:\frst (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter Note: Replace letter e with the drive letter of your USB drive that you identified in step#5. 7. The tool will start to run. 8. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer. 9. Press Fix button. 10. It will make a log (fixlog.txt) on the USB drive. Please plug in the USB drive into your clean computer and copy and paste the contents of it into your reply.
I got a couple of restarts and then a blue screen saying it needs to be repaired.
enter to try again f8 for startup options and esc for uefi
all the normal start up options appear to be there.
I took number 6 safe mode with command prompt. A message came up that could not start safe mode until windows has been installed. pressed ok and back to the blue screen again
Go ahead and answer the install prompts. Just please keep detail notes on anything and everything that comes up so that I may better assist you if any issues pop up.
go all the way to the windows screen and my user. opened control panel to see operating system. it is windows 8. and it is activated so Belarc will get the product key. before doing windows 8, think I should run sfc/scannow do you want to see the results? For now windows update I will set at never check for updates so I can do them ,
