[SOLVED] Windows Server 2012R2 update error code 80070032

There seems to be no end in sight. Perhaps it would be as well to run SFC /scannow to make sure that there are no new system file issues.

Hello.

stc -> 100% -> damaged files found -> no reboot request

There is a sister system which acts as a terminal server, too. This system seems to be okay - no sfc errors. Maybe it's usable to speed things up?

Cheers
Ferdi

If the sister system is more or less identical then it would be useful to have a comparison of the Components and Winners Hives. For the sister system please provide them as follows:

Step#1 - Export CBS hive
  • Click on the Start button and type regedit
  • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing
  • Once selected, click File > Export....
  • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (.).
  • Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on the saved file and choose Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload to Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Step#2 - Export SideBySide
  1. Click on the Start button and type regedit
  2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide
  4. Once selected, click File > Export....
  5. Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (.)
  6. Name this file SxS (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  7. Once done please upload this file via Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace.

Step#3 - Export Components Hive
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and then just provide the link in your reply.

Hello Ferdi and thanks for the files.

I think we can source the damaged manifest files detected by the SFC scan from your TWIN server. Please do the following on your TWIN server and this will create a zip file with the replacement files that I need to fix the broken server.

  1. If needed, download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt and a file called replacement.zip
  8. Attach these files into your next post for me.

Hello Ferdi,

Now we will add these replacement manifest files to your other system.

Please download the attached file to the desktop of your original server and drag and drop onto the SFCFix.exe file.
Afterwards redo SFC /scannow and post a new CBS.log file.

It looks like there are still some registry keys to fix for these replacement files to work. I have provided these based on what I see on your Twin system. This fix needs to be applied to your broken system

Download the attached script file to your desktop and then drag and drop it onto the SFCFix.exe file. Post the resultant SFCFix.txt file into your next post. You can then redo SFC /scannow and afterwards post the new CBS.log file.

Hello, it would appear that one of the payload files is missing from your system. Once again we can get this from your Twin system and add it back. As before this will need to be done in two stages - retrieve the files from the good system and then add them to the other one. It is not a simple copy and paste because of the special folder permissions and ownership issues which have to be attended to. The SFCFix program does this automatically for us.

Download the attached SFCFixScript.txt file to your Twin server desktop and then drag and drop it onto SFCFix.exe to create the new replacement.zip file on your desktop.

Please attach this zip file to your next post.
