Windows update error 0x80073712

KB5017220 does install successfully. KB4505219 still fails to install.

Thank you,

Ok.
FRST Scan:
  1. Right-click to run FRST64.exe as administrator.
  2. Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  3. Press the Scan button.
  4. Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  5. Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

It would not install. It does not find any SQL instances and so there is a validation error. I’m wondering if I should try to uninstall and reinstall SQL 2016.

I’m wondering if I should try to uninstall and reinstall SQL 2016.
As a last resort to check out, maybe the installer "Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Setup (English)" provides a repair option.
Otherwise I don't see any other option as to uninstall and reinstall.

These installed programs are related to SQL 2016 so make sure they are uninstalled too before reinstalling:
- GDR 4224 for SQL Server 2016 (KB4458842)
- Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2016 (KB3182545) (64-bit)

- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (64-bit)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 RsFx Driver
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Setup (English) <- this is probably the main installer package
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 T-SQL Language Service
- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 T-SQL ScriptDom

- Browser for SQL Server 2016
- Microsoft VSS Writer for SQL Server 2016
- SQL Server 2016 Batch Parser
- SQL Server 2016 Common Files
- SQL Server 2016 Connection Info
- SQL Server 2016 Database Engine Services
- SQL Server 2016 Database Engine Shared
- SQL Server 2016 DMF
- SQL Server 2016 Shared Management Objects
- SQL Server 2016 Shared Management Objects Extensions
- SQL Server 2016 SQL Diagnostics
- SQL Server 2016 XEvent
