[SOLVED] Broken Windows update / SFC - HELP PLS!!!

update: I started getting blue screens. Every time it would blue screen it would find errors in chkdisk after. I figured out that I had a bad stick of ram.

No more chkdisk errors now. I think we could move on with getting windows update repaired again now and hopefully it will stay repaired.

Windows update itself works now that I fixed the ram, but I'm back to the install loop I was telling you about. I'll post a pictorial below so you can see what's going on.

1.png
So I run windows update.
2.png
These are the update available.
3.png
Downloading........
4.png
Successful except for 1 item.
5.png
That item is internet explorer 11.
6.png
I check for updates again.......
7.png
More updates detected......
8.png
It's the same 8 updates it just said completed successfully! They keep coming back!

-------------------------------------

So at this point, I have two problems. IE11 still fails to install and I have 8 repeating updates.

Thanks again!

also: SFC did not find any problems.

C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Wow, that's a lot of fixes.

Go ahead and run SFC and SURT again and attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log and C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log with your reply.

Hi Deprog

Do what zcomputerwiz suggested and run SURT again. That SURT run fixed a lot things. This is surprising since I managed to clear SURT in post #51: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...windows-update-sfc-help-pls-3.html#post104713

The bad stick of RAM was causing all the corruptions in the first place so now it's replaced we should be able to fix them all up. It seems that in the month since I cleared the SURT log the RAM had caused a lot more corruptions.

Hi,

Can I get a copy of your COMPONENTS hive? I would normally do this with SFCFix, but your system doesn't seem to like SFCFix :p

SFCFix COMPONETS Collection

  1. Download SFCFix.exe using the following link and save the tool to your Desktop: [sfcfixdownload]Download SFCFix[/sfcfixdownload]
  2. Download SFCFixScript.txt and save this to your Desktop as well: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u...eric/Collect/COMPONENTS/SFCFixScript.txt?dl=1
  3. On your Desktop, you should now see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  4. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  5. SFCFix will now begin to upload your COMPONENTS hive to our server.

I'm really sorry about the delay.

Going to try the windows update again.

No change. The IE fails, and the other 8 succeed but then re-appear when I check for updates again.

Hi deprog -

Tekno Venus asked that I jump in and assist if I can as he's bogged down with school right now and doesn't want you to have to wait. If you are OK with this, please do the following for me.

Remove Update Manually
1. Click on the Start
Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:2871997

4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.
