This may be part of the problem. A couple questions.

1. Who is your Internet Provider? Do you know what upload and download speed you are paying for?
2. Do you have the ability to connect your machine to another internet connection somewhere and try updates?

Let me know.

I have Speed Connect for my provider. That isn't the issue because my other laptop running the same hardware doesn't have any problems updating Windows. Also, my lady friend who has the same laptop as my new one comes over here to update windows because she is on a dial up at her home.

I might have a a full back up of the old computer, but it would be at least a year old, plus you had me uninstall the back up program. Worst case, I would try Windows 10, but really prefer to fix 7 if at all possible.

I've had some hardware issues with my new Dell, one being I had to replace the DVD unit. I must have broken something on the plastic bezel when I removed it from the old one. I found that Dell no longer has the bezel. I've been unable to locate any other one, except for one that may work, but they want as much for the bezel as I paid for the new DVD unit. My old laptop is an Acer and I never had any issues with it. I only replaced it because it was getting old I have found a new Acer with equipment comparable to my new Dell, running Windows 7, for $500 and I believe it comes with the Windows media. I may just buy it as my primary laptop.

The only other thing would be if I could find a Windows 7 disk. So if you have any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks for all of your continuing help. This must be a real stumper for you.

Okay. Ive done so. Do you want me to try a single update or do you have different instructions? Thanks.

I tried to install one update. After 3 hours I gave up. I found a Microsoft website where I can download a copy of Windows 7. Since I don't have an original disk, would this work? I have the original key. Windows 7. Once I have it on my thumb drive, you can instruct me what steps to take. Thanks.

I don't believe you will be able to download Windows 7. You previously stated...

It sounds like you are saying I need a Windows disk. When I purchased the laptop new, no disk came with it. Windows was already installed. What I have is on the laptop and that is it. Or am I misunderstanding you when you say I will need my Windows media?

If Windows was pre-installed on your computer it is likely an OEM version. The download link is only for the retail version. I'm also not convinced that this will work even if we repair Windows 7.

Let me know if I'm wrong here though.

It likely would yes but I can't vouch for anyone selling windows media online.

Can you provide me a list of all the updates that show need installed? Screen shots in a word document are fine. I'd like to see them all.

I split into left side and right side. I hope that helps. That way you can match up the KB numbers.

Update 01B.jpg

If this doesn't work, I'll try something else.
