There was a failure in the script. Before I restart the server and try the install, I wanted to pass the error along. I am attaching the output file.

Hi,

Could you please perform the following as well:

Download the

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.

  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.

  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

This looks much better, please perform a reboot and try to install the Backup Feature. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

The install completed this time. However, I cannot locate the program inside Server Manager or the Administrative Tools folder. I also tried the command-line tool, wbadmin and the command was not found.

Hi,

Run the following commands and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
SFC /Scannow
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Right-click on the file
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following (code) into the Search box and click the Search Files button.
Code:
wbadmin.msc
  • When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'Search.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also.
  • Post the logfile Search.txt as attachment in your next reply.

During the install of Server Backup, I was not prompted to restart the server but I did restart it last night once I could not locate the application. I also tried uninstalling it and that generated an error. I will include a screenshot of that.

I am attaching the CBS logs and the Search.txt file.

Could you please post the result SFCFix as well, this because the same error is reported in the latest log.

Mmm, please try to uninstall the backup feature with Process Monitor running. Afterwards attach the *PML trace as well as a new copy of the CBS logs.

Please open an elevated prompt and try the following command, afterwards copy the result in your next post.
Code:
DISM /Online /Disable-Feature /Featurename:WindowsServerBackup

And post the result the of the following command as well.
Code:
DISM /Online /Get-Features /Format:table > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\Features.txt"

Here is a screenshot of the output, along with the CBS logs and the Features.txt.

Just a question: do you have the same issues installing other features?

I don't recall installing any other features in a long time on this machine. It was a domain controller at one point, so it would have had AD on it but that has since been removed. That was probably 2-3 years ago.

As for Features, currently it has the broken Server Backup, PowerShell, the AD PowerShell remote server tools, Network Load Balancing, .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.6. I can try to install another feature and see what happens.
