Speedtest

Finally! A speed to get me on the board :D

That's from my desktop.

That's from my phone.

I'm still trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with my desktop's upload...

I wish I had half of your speed at home....

I still cannot get an accurate speedtest here at work... I think the server throttles the internet connection... You should see the needle jump all over the place, steady out about 50-70Mb/s then drop to around 20 at the very end... Does the same thing every time...

Yea mine spikes at about 70 then steadys around the 30 to 40 mark.

My netbook refuses to run speedtest and my desktop refuses to upload. I'm probably gonna call charter some time and find out what's goin on.

Unless there's something wrong with my eithernet's bus. I've got new cables and short ones at that. It doesn't make since that wireless from my phone actually pushes a faster upload than by cable.

Actually I hope that is all it is, just a limitation of the sb chip not a cable issue.

(and about having my speed at your house) It can't be that bad.

Upgraded from RoadRunner Lite to Standard. D/L supposed to be 15 Mb/s, Upload 1-2 Mb/s. Quite a jump from the 1 Mb/s down & upload I had, although still no change in upload.

This test apparently hit the server at a particularly quiet time, with retests between 15 & 19 mb/s:

Anything's better than my speeds. No time for a speed test, but normally I get 3 down and 0.35 up. Have had it for years now so have got used to it. That reminds me, I need to run a check at school, always wondered what they get.

I know what you mean, I was stuck with this speed for the past 6 years:

It got so tedious having files downloading at 300kbps max; I never realised how much more efficient I'd be with a faster connection. Watching an hour long video on iPlayer actually took one hour, rather than one hour of watching and god knows how long buffering!

Quite a difference, you could say :p

Because the fibre optic technology was developed in Southampton, they're very keen to flaunt anything to do with it and a whole section of a presentation in freshers was entirely on fibre optics :p They're aiming to roll out the next generation of fibre optic cables in the next few years and they claimed it would bring 100x speed increases, so that should be worth waiting for!

Mine showed up at 11.63 down and 1.47 up.
I am hooked with AT&T U-verse which includes TV, Internet and phone. This allows me to pay on bill to cover all three.
