usb unable use any usb flash drive

Hello Xilolee i found the four drivers that want downloaded from the inf update utility that zcomputerwiz recommended it is located at winodws-system-system32-driverstore-file repository 8-27-16 again i don't know if i did things right because nothing yet has changed after the download and i am still waiting word from you or z. about the three drivers that you recommended.

Hi rosetta, the 'inf update utility' was previously Intel's name for their chipset driver installation utility.
Please do follow Xilolee's instructions. I've got an awful internet connection today because of weather, so I probably won't be around :)

Okay i downloaded the three drivers and they installed and i checked in updates optional the intel graphic media accelerator 3150 installed still looking at the same thing though there was no change in device manager.the six unknown devices still have the same error code 28 the hardware id for those six are
vid 8086 pid 27ca
vid 8086 pid27c8
vid 8086 pid 27cc
vid 8086 pid 27c9

I installed them the way you gave it to me vga, chipset, and sata last after that i ran windows updates and there was the optional intel graphic media accelerator 3150.

Did you try that usb flash drives on another machine? (if they won't work also on other machines, they could be damaged)

Did you try to connect other usb devices (not usb flash drives, but mice, keyboards or every other usb device)? (if no USB device can connect to your machine, it could be possible you have disabled USB support in your BIOS...)

all the usb flash drives works on the other pc and the mouse and my cell phone did not get recognized, so it looks like the usb might be disable in the bios. how do i go about to correct this,

Good morning Xilolee and Zcomputerwiz i looked into the bios settings and i cannot see any way in the bios settings that this computer has how i can alter it . The f2 bios on this computer has no advance option and by the way I ran the sfc /scannow command and there are 19 files corrupted an unusually high no# for me. I made mistakes trying too keep up with you pros but I am learning and enjoying it.Waiting for the next instructions, and maybe we can clean up the files corruption also.

I know your main problem is to reset your laptop to factory settings/image.
What steps have you used to try it?
I found a video on youtube (click): did you use that same method?

I think the message you posted on your other thread, "cannot factory reset: computer hard drive configuration is not set to factory default", could mean you have modified your partitions (when you got your laptop, there was another partition scheme).

Could you remember if you have modified your partitions? And how?
Could you remember their default sizes?
Even better: have you written them somewhere? (Or are they written in your manual?)

Hey Xilolee I have that video as well when i get to the last step a message says hard drive configuration is not set to factory default restore aborted. about two and a half weeks ago i tried aomei one key recovery partition and it partition 35 gb but the partition drive didn't work so i recombined the partition back to the c drive. I looked on the web (youtube ) to find the steps to recombine the drive back to it's original size on the c drive. I brought this computer about 20 months ago from a retailer. I called them about the factory reset partition and they said it was hidden and they could restore the system for a price. I told them that i should have the option to restore my computer without paying for it. I felt that if they can do it so can I.

Open an elevated command prompt (move the mouse cursor over here to read more) and run the following commands (press enter after you typed each command):
diskpart
select disk 0
list partitions
list volumes
exit
Copy the content of the command prompt and paste it here (possibly using the code or quote or hide forum tags).

Ok, now run these commands from an elevated command prompt:
Code:
diskpart
select disk 0
select partition 1
assign letter m
exit
dir m:\d2d\images\*.swm /a /b /s
They should unhide your recovery partition, giving it the M letter.
The last command searches *.swm files (you get that error on your other thread): if it finds *.swm files, re-try the factory reset procedure you saw in that youtube video.

Try this one:
Code:
dir m:\*.exe /a /b /s && dir m:\*.swm /a /b /s && dir m:\*.wim /a /b /s
It should list all EXE, SWM and WIM files on M: (the recovery partition).
Post the results here...
