100MB doesn't contain a system partition for sure.
It seems you have an empty recovery partition, i.e. you don't have it...
By the way, check what files are present with this command: dir e: /a /b /s > "%userprofile%\desktop\list.txt"
It should create the file list.txt on your desktop: upload it here (if the file is too big, use google drive, onedrive, or a similar service).

The cmd message "the system cannot find the path specified". unbelievable.and the list txt is blank.

You can also navigate the M partition through windows GUI (explorer.exe), just like you do with c:\

By the way, in the previous command I used E instead of M... (sorry, but I tested it with my drive E and forgot to change the letter)

ok got it but what can i do with this drive and by the way here is the list txt when i changed the letter to m. M:\aimdrs.datM:\Napp7.log
M:\Restore.dat
M:\System Volume Information

This is what I get on mine (This was windows 8 recovery partition):

Can you see there are six big SWM files (and one little WIM, probably used to join them)?
The logical conclusion is you can NOT use the factory restore on your laptop, because it doesn't exist.
Nevertheless you could probably order, buy and receive the recovery CD from the manufacturer.

That's the content of your c:\users\acer folder, it has nothing to do with the recovery partition.
(I think you know drive/partition c: is usually where the operating system is installed, i.e. the C is the most used letter - 999999.9 out of a million ;))

disregard the previous reply i use the wrong drive letter so i got the wrong report.but the question about the swm files are they dir?

SWM are image files.
Like WIM files.
They are used to create the recovery partitions (and other...).
I think you know ISO files (.iso) can be burned on cd/dvd...
WIM and SWM are quite the same, the use is the same, but they are Microsoft windows specific, based on files (instead that on cd/dvd/hdd sectors, like ISO).
They can be created and mounted with imagex and dism (MS tools).
Other disk imaging tools can mount them, but that's another story.

yea i see clearly now, how can that happen if i don't have a cd /dvd slot and my usb drives are not operating. If my usb drives were working i could go from the dvd to the usb recovery correct? would fixing the corrupt sfc /scannow files help possibly the usb drive situation?

Those WIM/SWM files were put on your hard disk, in the recovery partition.
In some way, you, or a program you used, deleted completely the recovery partition.
Without the recovery partition, you can't do a factory reset (i.e., you can't put the things/folder/files like they were when you bought the laptop).
Hence in this thread we have solved your other thread: the solution is to buy the recovery cd/dvd from the manufacturer (ACER), if they still have it...
(I.e., what Digerati said in his first reply!)

Now, for the USB drives not recognized, we could still try to find the cause...

Xilolee you have done an excellent job trouble shooting the situation and i am very impress and satisfied. as far as the usb not being recognize if you don't mind and you think you can come up with a solution than i am all for it. The next move is up to you.

Good to hear from you Xilolee you are a go-getter and that's a fantastic trait. So i go to f2 and then hit f9 to set default and hit yes and then f10 to save correct?

I have notice that in device manager under usb universal serial bus controllers there is no usb root hub and there is no usb composite device they should be there shouldn't they?

I suppose resetting the bios didn't work...Let's try to get more informations about your devices:

  • Download nirsoft devmanview 32bit (click)
  • Unzip/decompress its folder (with its default name) on the desktop (i.e., put devmanview folder on the desktop, with its files in it)
  • Run the following command from a command prompt:
    Read More:
    "C:\users\acer\desktop\devmanview\devmanview.exe" /sort service /shtml "c:\users\acer\desktop\devices.htm"
I used acer as your username (I got it from msinfo32 log), but, if your username is different, use the correct one or put %username% in place of it.
I.e., try these commands if the first won't work:
    "C:\users\%username%\desktop\devmanview\devmanview.exe" /sort service /shtml "c:\users\%username%\desktop\devices.htm"
    "C:\users\YourUsernameFolder\desktop\devmanview\devmanview.exe" /sort service /shtml "c:\users\YourUsernameFolder\desktop\devices.htm"
  • You should obtain the file devices.htm on your desktop: upload it here (mine is about 166kB).

Xilolee it took me awhile to figure out how to preform the task that you requested. The best I could do was to copy and paste the results i saw no way too make the report come out devices.htm. I did not obtain the file devices.htm on my desktop.
