Hi,

Where did you get the contents of that code box from? That's not in the tutorial anywhere?

Try fixing it with DISM - as described in Method 1. If DISM fails, then Method 2 is for you. Let me know if you have any problems with them.

Re: GUIDE: CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf Corruptions - Windows 8/8.1

Hi Stephen, I just follow up that post:

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.txt, and save this to your Desktop.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file and a folder should be created on your Desktop, titled SFCFix.txt and Tekno_Venus respectively.
  8. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SFCFix.txt file into your next post for me to analyse please - put
    Code:
tags around the log to break up the text.

Re: GUIDE: CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf Corruptions - Windows 8/8.1

Hi,

Those instructions are different to the ones in the tutorial. You no longer need to create a Tekno_Venus folder on your desktop. :)

Follow the instructions in the first post of the tutorial --> https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...nf-corruptions-windows-8-8-1-a.html#post59076.

Hey,

Did anyone else notice that the DISM command changes the SYSTEM security settings of the file CNBJ2530.DBP seen in its Properties box? Unlike all the other DPB files in the same folder, this file doesn't seem to let SYSTEM have full access to it anymore (only "read" and "execute" are checked). I'm not sure this could lead to any potential problems later on... (see pictures below)

Thank you for that very useful information.

I do not see that causing any issues, but again, thanks for posting that! That could come in very handy to know!

Don't mention it, glad I could inform. ;)

The potential problems I was thinking about are problems such as when a future update (i.e. windows 8.2?) comes out for which files are needed to be modified, renewed, etc. by SYSTEM. Not sure if the developers are aware of DISM doing this. Then again, I could be wrong...

It does not look like it will cause further issues to me. The SYSTEM account is only used for future updates under impersonation if the permissions for the TrustedInstaller account have been messed up (that's what Windows Update will use by preference). I can reset the permissions on that file if you like, but I don't think it's needed. Second question: what is the current owner on that file (Properties > Security tab > Advanced > Owner tab)? If it's not TrustedInstaller, then I would consider acting, although again I don't think it will be needed due to impersonation (but I might still act here).

Thank you.

Thanks for your info and help. If I understand correctly, the SYSTEM only needs these full permissions in case the TrustedInstaller account priviliges are not enough or messed up? It says indeed that the Owner of the file is TrustedInstaller so I guess I shouldn't worry.

Re: GUIDE: CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf Corruptions - Windows 8/8.1

For those experiencing the issue where the file is reported corrupt again after a reboot, please attempt the fix again - starting first with DISM.

If it still continues after another reboot, do not worry. In all honestly, this is a minor corruption and shouldn't affect the day to day running of your computer. If you have indeed performed the replacement and fixed it once, then it may be SFC falsely reporting the error. Do not worry about it, it's not a concerning corruption and shouldn't cause any problems.

While I agree this doesn't really need to be fixed as it will only be experienced by few people, I still think that it's best to fix this so that any future detections by SFC aren't ignored and passed off as this issue when they could be other corruptions. I know all it takes to determine this is looking at the CBS log, but it isn't half overwhelming at first :p

Re: GUIDE: CNBJ2530.DPB and prncacla.inf Corruptions - Windows 8/8.1

Background, Acer Aspire, T3-605. It came with Acer installed W8 and has been upgraded by me to W8.1 (not a fresh install). It has been running trouble free until recently, a failed Windows Update KB2919355 with error 80073712 got my attention.

So far, I have tried MS Online scan (no virus were found). chkdsk /r and chkdsk /scan and also /spotfix Didn't see any errors. Windows defender has been on the whole time. No virus scanners installed.

I've been looking at this issue for about a week now. It started with 2919355 will not update automatically nor manually. Then I tracked down through DISM (error 0x80240021) and sfc; those reported errors, but unable to fix those corruptions.

SFC showed this...

00000590 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:36{18}]"Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB" of prncacla.inf, Version = 6.3.9600.16384, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type = [l:24{12}]"driverUpdate", TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch
2014-04-19 10:04:42, Info CSI 00000591 Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\amd64_prncacla.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.16384_none_9590ba64d5b91f79\Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB do not match actual file [l:36{18}]"Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB" :

I then followed your guide and stuck in Method 1.

SFCfix.exe were ran in both in normally loaded W8.1 and clean state W8.1 No changes when I ran DISM/sfc afterward, both still reported errors and can't fix.

My question is: Once those corrupted files are restored, would I be able to install 2919355? Thanks!

awesome to the letter. This worked exactly as posted. "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." Thanks so much! Hope you'll be back...

I then did a further sfc/scannow and do not seem to have a corrupt file, however, does the mention of one, without naming it, in the SFCfix matter?

Very, very grateful, thank you so much.

Welcome to Sysnative!

It does not matter because SFCFix has successfully repaired it. You're good to go :)
