[SOLVED] Windows 7 64 Ultimate failed to update 3 files.

Sorry for the confusion. I have not done the backup yet. There was an option on the backup screen to download windows 10 to either a usb drive or to a disk to use on another computer.
I downloaded the upgrade file ;Windows10.iso, and burned it to a disk. I have not, as of yet, installed the Windows 10 upgrade with either the ISO disk, or the option to "Update this computer now."

What's the next step.

Let me know if you are able to mount the ISO.

Mount the Windows 10 ISO you've already downloaded (located at x:\Users\Staples Desktop\Documents\Windows.iso) by right-clicking on the ISO file and selecting mount.

I tried to mount it, but it says "The file does not have a program associated with it to perform this action. Please install a program, or if one is already installed, please create an association in the Default programs control panel. I have Virtual Clone drive set as the default program to mount ISO files in the default programs control panel.

No problem. Just wanted to see if you had the same issue. Please uninstall Virtual Clone drive and let me know when complete. If you are asked to reboot, please do.

DVDFab Virtual Drive is downloaded. Should I set up DVD Fab as the Default program for .iso files in the default programs control panel?

Then what is next.

You shouldn't have to set this as the default. It should have done this on its own. Can you double-click on the Windows10.iso now? Let me know what happens. Thanks.

I got the same message the file doesn't have a file associated with it, however it is listed as the default program to open iso files in the default control panel.

This is what came up on my screen when I downloaded your link. What am I supposed to do with this?

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.iso]
@="DVDFabVirtualDrive"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVDFabVirtualDrive]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVDFabVirtualDrive\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files\\DVDFab Virtual Drive\\vdrive.exe,0"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVDFabVirtualDrive\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVDFabVirtualDrive\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DVDFabVirtualDrive\shell\open\command]
@=""C:\\Program Files\\DVDFab Virtual Drive\\vdrive.exe" /M:0 "%1""

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.iso]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.iso\OpenWithList]
"a"="vdrive.exe"
"MRUList"="a"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.iso\OpenWithProgids]
"elby.VCDMount.1"=hex(0):
"DVDFabVirtualDrive"=hex(0):

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.iso]
@="DVDFabVirtualDrive"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\DVDFabVirtualDrive]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\DVDFabVirtualDrive\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files\\DVDFab Virtual Drive\\vdrive.exe,0"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\DVDFabVirtualDrive\shell]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\DVDFabVirtualDrive\shell\open]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\DVDFabVirtualDrive\shell\open\command]
@=""C:\\Program Files\\DVDFab Virtual Drive\\vdrive.exe" /M:0 "%1""

OK, that's done.

I double clicked the ISO file, and a screen came up asking me what program I wanted to open the file with. My options were win rar and Microsoft Disk Image Burner. I opened other programs to search for the DVD Fab program, but it was not listed.

You should be able to Browse for other programs. Browse to the following path.

C:\Program Files\DVDFab Virtual Drive\vdrive.exe

I installed DVD Fab on my X drive, which is where I try to install most of my programs so that my C drive system drive does not get to full. Is that OK to have it on that drive.

OK, I double clicked the Windows10.iso file, but nothing is happening. I also right clicked the file and in then went to "Open With" and attempted to open with DVD Fab, but still, nothing happening.
When I right click the file, there is also "Mount To F", but if I go to "Start--->>Computer" to find out what drive F is, it is listed as "BD-ROM Drive (F:) Virtual Clone Drive. I deleted virtual clone drive and
all of the remnants from my system using Revo uninstaller. Any idea why Virtual Clone drive would be listed as Drive F? Confusing.

Wierd. OK, please try upgrading to Windows 10 using the disk that you burned the ISO to. Put the disk in and try running setup.exe from there. Let me know how it goes.

OK, I did the install using the Windows10.iso running the setup.exe, I downloaded the updates and it went through all of the installation steps, and then I got a message.

WINDOWS 10 INSTALLATION FAILED.

This is really annoying.
