[SOLVED] Windows Update Issue

Thanks for the new log. Now the error is registered there...

Please zip and attach the following log c:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log

Hi,
Finally a Good News. I could finally install KM3139398.
I observed that there is a lack of Full Access permission on USBSTOR.INF and USBSTOR.PNF files for the SYSTEM and Administrator. I granted them the Full Access, rebooted my machine and tried to reinstall KB3139398. This time it could configure the updates upon reboot successfully.
Now I will try installing other Windows Update.
I will keep you posted on the progress.

When I tried to run the update in standalone mode (x86 version), the message says that "This update is not compatible with your computer". So not sure why it is showing as an update at all.

Hi,

The logs doesn't seems complete! can you upload the complete CBS folder please.

If you open the Start Menu the Shutdown option shows the icon to install updates like this:

If it does shutdown the machine to let it install the updates.

Hi,
I have shut down the machine and some updates were installed. However some updates are continuously failing. For example:

  • 2018-04 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x-86 based Systems (KN4093118)

The system tried installing these updates repeatedly throughout the day and every time they failed. The Error codes are below:

Thanks for the update.

To check for the errors I need a new copy of the CBS folder.

Hi,

Lets try to install one of the updates in a different way...

Install Update using Dism
  1. Download the zip file containing the update using this link
  2. Open the folder c:\windows\temp and create a new folder there called UPDATE
  3. move the update Windows6.1-KB2972100-x86.zip to the folder UPDATE and extract the zip file
  4. a new folder and a script file Install-KB2972100.cmd will be extracted
  5. right-click the file Install-KB2972100.cmd and select Run as administrator (accept the security prompts)
  6. The script will run and you should see the following messages:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

If you see a prompt to restart accept it. Let me know what errors if any come up. If you do get errors, please zip/attach the c:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
