Hi,

I'm very sorry for the delay. I don't know what happened, but I didn't receive an email for any of your posts. And to further the delay, since this post was the first on a new page, I didn't notice there was a new page when I refreshed earlier.

Anyway, I just did your latest set of instructions. Update uninstalled, then installed, SFC scan showed nothing wrong, then lowest KB failed to install. CBS is attached.

No problem at all. There were some web site issues this morning which was the reason for my double post. It may very well be notifications were interrupted as well.

Please do this.

Hi,

I had some complications with windows update. It stayed for a while not doing anything. I had to cancel it and try it again.
CBS is big, here is the link:

Greetings.

Looks good, thanks for the second effort.

This is the final one for this series. It is a bit different by design.

Greetings.

Please attempt to install only KB4489878. If it fails post the CBS log.

Thank you.

That did not go as well as we had hoped.

Please do this.

===================================================

Process Monitor Trace

--------------------
  • Download (if necessary) and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
  • Attempt to install the same update you just attempted
  • Stop Process Monitor as soon as the update fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar
  • Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
  • Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log

Hello,

That's unfortunate to hear.

Just a quick update, but I'm about to head to bed. I will have to this tomorrow.

Thanks!

Hi,

Just a small update. I'm rather swamped today. I'll either be able to do those latest steps late tonight, or I'll have to postpone til tomorrow.

Sorry about that.
