SFCFix attached and KB2952264 success! I restarted and checked Windows Update and KB2952264 is not on the list. Win7 Important Updates screenshot also attached.

What's next? We tried KB4516655 briefly in Message #890, then switched to KB4489878 in Message #892, but did not finish either.

While installing KB4489878 we ran into a problem with KB2952264 which is fixed now.
We can resume with KB4489878.
Perform the instructions in message #892 again. You can skip step 1, 2 and the command expand at step 5.

Well that was interesting. The DISM install of KB4489878 said 100% successful and a restart was required from the Command Prompt. The computer failed to restart and I let it sit a good 2 hours before forcing a power off. Upon restart it went in to recovery mode and took quite a while. It eventually finished and restarted and seems to be up and running but I have no idea where we are relative to the various KB's since it's been quite a while since the last system image.

The list of Important Updates is still the same as Message #927.

Ok.

Run the command sfc /scannow in an elevated commandprompt and report the result.
If it fails, copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop.
Zip the copied file and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

I'll do a system image first. The last three or four times we ran sfc /scannow the computer did not restart. I meant to do the image last night but forgot. I'll start it soon.

The sfc /scannow ran successfully. Screenshot is attached.

Great. Provide a screenshot of the available important Windows Updates.

Here is a screenshot. Looks the same as the one from 8/11/2024.

Yes, I was expecting that.

Install Update with DISM
  1. Download the update MSU here: https://catalog.s.download.windowsu..._4dc78a6eeb14e2eac1ede7381f4a93658c8e2cdc.msu
  2. Copy the MSU file to a convenient location (such as C:\temp).
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  5. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd C:\temp
replace C:\temp with your path if different

    expand windows6.1-kb4534310-x64_4dc78a6eeb14e2eac1ede7381f4a93658c8e2cdc.msu -f:* C:\temp

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\windows6.1-kb4534310-x64.cab

  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.
  7. If you receive any other message:
Post a screenshot of the Commandprompt window.
Zip and attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

This one was really strange. I downloaded and installed KB4534310 and it installed successfully (screenshot attached). But the computer failed to restart and went into system recovery and even finished with the message that it can't be fixed (attached). So I restarted and it started up OK. Then I checked the important Windows updates and KB4534310 was still on the list. So I installed it using Windows Update. It took a long time to download and then installed. Upon restart the computer failed and went into system recovery again and then restarted OK.

But when looking at the important updates (same list as in Messages #927 and #935), KB4534310 is still on the list. I'll wait for your advice before proceeding.
