Problem with windows update - now boots to black screen with cursor. SFC & DISM no longer work. Can't repair.

I'm also going to attach a search reg for KB2919355. I need to use industry software that requires it, says it's not installed and won't work, so I tried to install, says already installed, tried to uninstall errors out and eventually ended up were we are now. That update is what started my problems and the black screen on boot.

I usually run Kaspersky, but I'm about to switch, open to recommendations.

when I click on either of these it just takes me to the system32 folder and does nothing :)

That can happen. If another virus protection program is installed, like Kaspersky, Windows Defender is disabled.

Ok thanks for that info, just for kicks I uninstalled all antivirus, rebooted and still does that. I guess maybe with all the trouble I've had it got broken.
I did find some more SXS files I was able to recover from my original hard drive with file recovery software and they were missing from my SXS folder - I'm going to try running SFC again and see what it comes back with.

Ok I'm going to give that a go shortly, I wanted to circle back to KB2919355 for a second to see if we could fix that?

I need to install inspections software for work and it requires KB2919355.

ScreenShot1490.jpg

I've tried uninstalling installed updates/uninstall and also wusa /uninstall /KB:2919355 via admin cmd prompt.
This is the gem that started my blackscreen issues as well. It's also keeping me from installing KB3000850 as it's a pre-requisite.

I need to restart, but will post back here shortly with the fixlist results

Here's the fixlog for Windows Defender.

Also just for reference here's a couple screenshots of when I try to turn it on.

ScreenShot1486.jpg

Soon as I click on either it just loads explorer to the system32 folder.

The registry change failed. Follow the instructions below. If anything is unclear, just ask first.

Click Start typ regedit in the searchbox and press enter.
Allow the program to run.
"Registry-editor" will open. On the leftside browse to the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender

Rightclick on it and select Permissions.
A new window opens, click the button Advanced.
A new window opens, select tab Owner.
Put a checkmark at Replace owner on subcontainers and objects
Select Administrators (...) then click Apply and OK.
In the list "Group or user names" select Administrators (...).
Next, put a checkmark to allow "Full Control" and click OK.

Let me know if you were successfully able to do this.
